PORT ST. LUCIE — The city's foray into land speculation appears primed to rev up early in the new year when the City Council is to review two deals for city-owned property in Tradition Commerce Center.

Oculus Surgical has offered $849,680 for 9.7 acres for a manufacturing-and-distribution facility, and Capital Brands has offered $450,000 for 3 acres for commercial development.

Both sites are on Discovery Way on the northern end of the 1,161-acre tract the city took over from Tradition Land Co. on June 28. The three-mile long property along Interstate 95 is known as the Tradition Jobs Corridor.

The council is to vote Jan. 14 on agreements to sell the two business sites, City Manager Russ Blackburn said.
